Acie Law Is Clutch

Acie Law IV hit what seems to be the 10th game winner of his career with a huge 3 from the right hand corner to silence a wild crowd at Allen Field House and cap off Texas A&M's comeback win against the Jayhawks. Since A&M and KU only play once during this season, this win will go a long way towards determining the #1 seed in the Big XII tournament and possibly a #1 seed in the NCAA Tournament as well. A&M not only needed a signature win to cement their position as one of the nation's elite this year, but they now have a very good chance at playing themselves into one of those top overall seeds.

Down the stretch of the game, KU couldn't hit several wide open looks that would have put the Aggies away and Sasha Kaun continued a brutal stretch of free throw shooting. As the entire Big XII knows by now, as long as the door stays even slightly cracked Acie Law will kick it in at the end and he did it to KU. Despite getting absolutely killed on the glass and game long foul trouble for their two key post players, A&M had the best player on the court at the end of the game and he came up huge for Gillispie again. Law was announced recently as a finalist for the Cousy Award as the best PG in the country, you can bet that tonight's game tape will find it way to the award selectors desks quickly.

Kansas and Texas A&M both head into rivalry games this week against Kansas State and Texas in what will be an interesting stretch of games in the Big XII that should shake out the league standings a bit. After the physical and emotional intensity of tonight's game, it will be interesting to keep an eye on the Aggies' and Jayhawks' response the next time out.
